Fifth Wellington Workshop in Probability and Mathematical Statistics
19-20 November 2015, Victoria University of Wellington
General Information
The Fifth Wellington Workshop in Probability and Mathematical Statistics (WWPMS 2015) will be held at the Kelburn campus, Victoria University of Wellington, NZ on 19-20 November 2015, in room LB LT118 (ground floor of Laby building, Lecture Theatre 118). Here is a map of the Kelburn campus (pdf; opens in a new tab), on which Laby building is at grid reference h11. For previous attendees, it may be helpful to note this is the same room we used in 2013 for the 4th WWPMS. The workshop is dedicated to advances in mathematical theory with an accent on beauty and clarity, rather than technicality. Good explanations of heuristics are very welcome, as well as interesting applications, even if not fully developed mathematically. A large part of all talks should be accessible to postgraduate students. Further information concerning the workshop including presentation abstracts, the detailed program and links to all the presentations, is available below. Here is some useful information on travel and accommodation (opens in a new tab), including various other maps. Parking for visitors is available on a Pay and Display basis on Waiteata Road ($10 per day, 7am–7pm, at grid reference L13 on the Kelburn campus map). Parking information at Victoria (opens in a new tab). Due to extensive construction work, other car parking is not currently available. Internet access for visiting Workshop participants is easiest through eduroam (education roaming; opens in a new tab), using authentication from your home institution. Alternatively, guests can access the Wi-Fi network at Victoria by following the instructions given here: WWPMS guest Wi-Fi access (pdf).Registration - now closed
There was no fee to attend the Workshop, but we required all speakers and attendees to register for catering purposes and name badges. Registration has now closed.Workshop Program
Links to all presentations are included in the Proceedings section below. The general structure of the Fifth Workshop remains as it was previously: all speakers are invited by the Program Committee (see below), all have the same time to present (30 minutes, including time for a few questions) and there are no parallel sessions. All participants will receive a printed copy of the final program at the workshop, along with a full printout of the presentation titles and abstracts. The program is available here: WWPMS 2015 Program (pdf). Refreshments will be available from 10:30am on both days and the formal welcome by the Victoria Pro Vice-Chancellor of Science, Professor Mike Wilson, is scheduled for 10:50am on 19 November. Talks will start at 11am on both days, and conclude by 5pm. Please note the Workshop Dinner is now confirmed for 6:30pm onwards on Thursday 19 November at Floriditas, 161 Cuba St, Wellington.Workshop Abstracts
