Prescription: This course is co-taught with STAT 392.
Description: An introduction to the practical aspects of survey design. Topics include: introduction to statistical research designs with an emphasis on developing objectives and designs using sample surveys; sources and control of non-sampling errors including questionnaire design and field work techniques; introduction to the design of sampling schemes; introduction to the analysis of survey data; report writing. Practical aspects of survey design and implementation form part of the course, including students developing their own survey proposals. Some use of a statistical package such as SAS or Excel will be required. The ability to write well in English is expected, as some assignments are to be presented as reports. Students unfamiliar with or unpractised at report writing are advised to take the course WRIT 101. This course is co-taught with STAT 392.
