MATH 452 CRN 591, 15 Points (2009 1/3)
Coordinator: Dr Christopher Atkin
Recommended: MATH312
Textbook: James R. Munkres, Topology, Prentice Hall, 2nd edition, 2000.
Description: General topology or point-set topology is the study of the general abstract nature of continuity or “closeness" on spaces. Basic topological notions are ones like continuity, dimension, compactness and connectedness. General topology deals with differing notions of continuity and compares them, as well as dealing with their properties. It is the foundation on which algebraic topology and differential topology stand.
