Abstract
Many of the time-dependent signals in which scientists, engineers or medical doctors are interested have frequency characteristics and concentration that vary with time. Traditional Fouriermethods are not well-adapted to these. The talk describes adaptive methods that provide better time-frequency localization for certain classes of signals, with applications.
