DESCRIPTION:Mobility analytics  uses different mobility data to analyze the
movement of people and goods. Usually\, it analyzes large datasets to obt
ain insights about travel patterns\, traffic congestion\, transportation i
nfrastructure usage\, among other mobility issues. More specifically\, the
insights from mobility analytics are used for various purposes\, such as
urban planning (optimizing traffic flow\, designing public transportation
systems\, and improving pedestrian and cycling infrastructure)\, business
planning (businesses can use mobility data to understand customer travel p
atterns and optimize delivery routes)\, and event management (event organi
zers can use mobility data to predict traffic congestion and plan accordin
gly).  Thus\, mobility analytics plays a crucial role in making our transp
ortation systems more efficient\, sustainable\, and equitable.\n\nProf. Lo
ureiro received his degree in Computer Science from the Federal University
of Minas Gerais in 1983\, his Master’s in the same field from the same in
stitution in 1987\, and his Doctorate in Computer Science from the Univers
ity of British Columbia in 1995. He has devoted his career to research in
Computer Science\, with particular attention to wireless sensor networks\,
  routing protocols\, mobile computing\, data dissemination\, and network m
anagement. He is a professor at Federal University of Minas Gerais. Prof.
Loureiro has published over 160 research articles in top-notch journals\,
and he has advised over 100 graduate students. He is visiting SMS as a Sha
yle Searle fellow until 12 September.
