Profile

I have been teaching and coordinating STAT193 since we redesigned the course in 2017. I’m also involved with teaching the engineering mathematics courses ENGR121 and ENGR123, as well as STAT391.

Before moving to Victoria University of Wellington/Te Herenga Waka, I was working at the University of Canterbury and the University of Canterbury International College, as well as tutoring high school students in NCEA mathematics and statistics. The textbook that I co-wrote with David Barton, Essential Maths and Stats for Higher Education, is a recommended text for foundation maths courses in Aotearoa and the Pacific, including MATH132.

I also worked for many years as a professional musician (French horn) in orchestras in the UK and NZ.

In 2021 I received a VUW/THW Teaching Excellence Award.
