Sampling small older populations: Methods and challenges of a dementia prevalence study
This is joint work with Ngaire Kerse, Xiaojing Wu
Dementia is a global health priority. The IDEA programme is a dementia prevalence study aiming to establish the true prevalence of dementia among older adults in Aotearoa New Zealand, with a particular emphasis on diverse ethnic groups.
In this talk, I will provide an overview of the methods and challenges of sampling older adults (65+) from small populations. I will present the community sampling strategy in this programme and the challenges that we have encountered along the way.
